Introducing: The Meanest Looking Custom Built Skyline R34 GTR 1/7th Scale Remote Control RC Car

Passion, It's the thing that drives us to achieve. The push we feel to dare to dream something, ideal, and then manifest that vision into reality. For anyone who's ever fallen head over heels into an engine bay, or body work, or getting your car track ready, YOU KNOW that feeling that drives you to customize and make things as you feel they should be. Your intuition is second to none.  RC Car Skyline GTR R34 Custom Built Remote Control Car This GTR is no different from any of the other incredible cars featured on this site ( just look around; there's red ones , blue ones , silver ones , white ones , black ones ) - except for one, small, detail. - It's 1/7th the size! You wouldn't be able to fit inside it, but it still rips around like a GTR should, and is a whole lot of fun to drive I'm sure, and the customization on this build is phenomenal.  Nissan Skyline GTR RC Car Rear End Spotted on the RC sub, user XJuggernaut101 shared their build story with us of ho...

Rust Prevention and Chassis Protection using POR 15 and Rocker Guard

Nissan made these cars from galvanized sheet metal, although its rare for them to rust it does still happen. I consider rust to be the cancer of the car, so to help prevent any rust forming I used a special POR 15 paint on the frame rails and inside all the wheels wells, as these are the areas that see the most abuse from road conditions. The fenders do have fender liners, but they only cover so much of the fender, and none of the body itself.
Rust Prevention and Chassis Protection
I followed a very specific procedure for this protection, and after a year of use, I can say that it's held up perfectly. So if you're looking for a sure fire way to prevent rust, this is it.

Procedure...
After deciding which parts you want to paint with POR-15, strip away as much as possible from the area you plan to paint. This paint is really extreme, if you get any on a screw and it seeps into the threads, you'll never be able to remove that screw, ever. It's a chemical bonding paint.

Day one: Using soap and water and a brush, scrub and wash everywhere you plan to paint to remove any loose dirt and grime. Then I sprayed Simple Green all over, and using a wire brush wheel attachment on a portable drill  I thoroughly scrubbed the surface, but not so hard as to remove the factory paint or protective finish, just hard enough to remove any remaining grease and dirt. Rinse it all off very thoroughly with the hose and allow it to dry over night.
Day two: When the surface is 100% dry, apply the paint in thin coats, and follow the instruction on the paint can for how frequently to re-apply multiple coats. I did three coats of POR-15 and allowed it to fully cure for a week.

A week later: I applied 2 thick coats of rubberized rocker guard, even though the POR-15 will never chip or flake off, I wanted a rubbery finish to provide a little bit more sound deadening and a nice consistent finish. The pictures below show the finished product:

How much did you end up using for the car? I want to do this as well but not sure if I need a gallon or not!
Thanks!

@ Anon, a Gallon would be sufficient for the entire underbody, depends how much of the body you want to do. I did just the frame rails and the wheel wells, that was enough with a quart.
